Hello and welcome to my blog once again.
You must be really interested to know what really happened during the 4 days I was away.
Well, on the first day, I was late. Sleepy from sleeping late and waking up even later. Stomach rudely awaken by the sudden change in habit and refused to function properly.
As I sat down in together with my groupmates, I started being self-conscious and started thinking to myself "are my clothes too lok kok(shabby)?", "Is my newly cut hair very nerdy?" and I started becoming very anxious and nervous. After all, they are my prospective schoolmates and showing my worst side on the first day is probably not a good thing to do.
Later in the day, we head to sunset way for a hike along an abandoned railway in the forest. I must say that the hike is not like a walk up southern ridges. It was muddy, wet, filled with fallen tree trunks, slippery mud slopes and branches waiting to spring back at ya. The mud was so squishy and dirty, I was constantly going 'eeeuuu' and 'yucks'
I would do mountain biking any time of the week, man!
It was already evening when we reached our dinner point and my feet were aching from the abrasion due to my sandals. Wah lao eh... Oh anyway, It was SP time! SP stands for Secret Pal! First, we had to blindfold ourselves and our OGL led us to our assigned SP for a short conversation. It was not easy to talk blindfolded. Luckily, she wasn't difficult to chat with. Just a little shy.
Next, it was Canal walk. You must be thinking that its gonna be a walk along the big, monsoon drains. Well, its more than that... we had to walk through underground drains as well! The water level was as high as knee level to as low as naught. It was dark, dirty, wet and my sandals became a harvester for seaweed. The water was so dirty that I refused to shine my torch at the water... I just didn't want to know whats in there. It was a ruckus inside sg's drainage system.
Ok, before I bore you with all the tiny details of the camp. I would like talk about the highlights of this camp...
They are:
Night cycling and Paintball.
For night cycling, we went around the east area. It is a slow, relaxing ride along the pavements until it became too annoying for us to cycle on it. One of our teammates had a slight accident when she rode up the pavement and inadvertently pointed her wheels towards the road and lost her balance. Luckily, the road was relatively empty and all she got was bruises. For the rest of our trip, we headed to two 24h food centres in Bedok for supper. Couldn't resist eating pratas on a late night. Yum...
Paintball. Probably the most anticipated item on OAC's itinerary. It was the only team vs team game and nothing can be more fun than gunning down the other team. Those toy-like rifles do quite some damage. Those hit had blood clot bruises that looked very painful. I felt bad for the guy I went trigger happy on. Opps. I think Painball should be a better name for that.
Well, although I am quite an indoor guy I would still recommend that all freshies join at least 1 camp.
